Who’s Interviewing Who?!
Interviewing brokerages as a real estate agent was a completely different experience from anything I had ever encountered before. As a former private banker, I was used to being the one interviewed and evaluated. However, in the real estate industry, the tables had turned - I was the one asking the questions and deciding which brokerage I was going to sign with.
I began my search for a brokerage that would support me in my new venture. I interviewed 10 different brokerages to find the right fit for me. I was looking for a company that would open doors for me and provide me with the resources I needed to succeed while aligning with my personality and values. The process of interviewing brokerages was nerve-wracking at first, but I quickly learned to trust my instincts and reminded myself that I was the value.
During the interviews, I asked a lot of questions about the brokerage's culture, training and support programs, commission structure, and more. I evaluated the culture of each brokerage and paid attention to the dynamic in the office. I highly weighed the reputation of each brokerage, but I knew that it wasn't the only factor to consider.
Every brokerage had a different and unique approach to training and support programs. I evaluated the programs offered by each brokerage to determine which one would provide me with the resources I needed to succeed. I ultimately chose to sign with SERHANT., a brokerage that offered me the support and resources I needed to achieve my goals.
Looking back on the process, I would only have changed one thing and that would be 100% listening to my instinct and gut from the start. I always knew that becoming an agent with SERHANT. would have been the pinnacle but wasn’t sure I was actually worthy of being a new agent. Thankfully, I put the imposter syndrome aside and remembered that at the end of the day I earned my seat in the room one way or another. I can truly say joining SERHANT. was the best decision thus far for my real estate career.
If you're currently interviewing brokerages as a real estate agent, remember to be yourself, research each brokerage thoroughly, ask a lot of questions, and evaluate the culture and training programs. Trust your instincts and follow your gut when making your decision. At the end of the day, remember this: "Your brokerage should feel like a really well-made shoe that fits perfectly for YOU!"
